The Sciton® profractional Laser Treatment, is a treatment that creates thousands of tiny deep columns in the skin without hurting the surrounding tissue. This shortens healing time and reduces any discomfort in order to promote the skins natural healing process to replace the damaged skin tissue.
The Sciton® Profactional Laser targets specific portions of damaged skin tissue to create microscopic wounds within the target areas. This triggers the body’s natural healing process and because the “wounds” are microscopic, it accelerates the production of collagen that aids in creating new healthy skin!
Redness and swelling are the most common side effects from the Sciton® Profractional Laser. In the event swelling occurs, it is usually mild and subsides within a few days. Redness also fades away within a few days as well. It may take up to a week for redness to completely leave the skin, but during this time makeup can be applied if desired to cover any redness area that results.
Studies show that on average, patients see results within 2-4 treatments spaced out approximately 4-8 weeks. Optimal improvement in the skin is usually visible within 2 to 3 months. This time frame, allows for the skin to completely heal and replace the damaged tissue with new collagen and elastin for healthy skin cell growth.
After treatment, it is recommended to use pure cocoa butter or aloe during the healing process. Typically this greatly increases the overall healing speed. If you are exposed to any sunlight, you must apply sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher every two hours. Try to avoid direct sun exposure during the entire healing process and for 3 months after the treatment is done.
