A neck lift, also known as a mini-facelift, concentrates on the neck area only and is appropriate for individuals with a minimal amount of loose neck skin. However, those with more loose skin – the “turkey wattle” look – would need a full facelift to achieve satisfactory results.
The doctor may make incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Excess fat is suctioned or excised, the muscles may be tightened, and the under-chin skin is suspended with long internal sutures to promote a more defined neckline. Excess skin may then be removed from the incisions behind the ears.
After your procedure, sutures will be removed in 5-7 days, and bruising or swelling should subside within 7-10 days. You should be able to return to work and resume light activity within 7-10 days after your procedure
A neck lift or mini-facelift will give you a more contoured, younger looking neck. You will see a noticeable improvement in the contour of your chin and neck within 4-6 weeks, and gradual improvement may follow for several months.
